Pear Tea Total Time: 40 mins Prep time: 10 minutes Steeping Time: 30 minutes
A warming, soothing way to enjoy pear—lighter than a full stew, deeply hydrating, and easy to digest.
This simple pear tea is an excellent alternative to stewed apples or pears when you want something warm and supportive without prolonged cooking. It produces both a lightly spiced tea and softly infused fruit to enjoy afterward.
Best Pear Choices
- Asian pear (best option): very juicy, mildly sweet
- Bosc pear (second best): aromatic and holds texture well
- Any ripe pear: fully ripe and juicy works best
Ingredients (1 serving)
- 1 ripe pear, thinly sliced
- 5 whole cloves
- 2–3 thin slices fresh ginger (to taste)
- 1 small cinnamon stick or a pinch of ground cinnamon
- Freshly boiled water
Instructions
- Prepare the pear. Slice the pear thinly and place into a wide-mouth heat-safe jar or thermos. The skin may be left on.
- Add spices. Add the cloves, ginger slices, and cinnamon to the jar with the pear.
- Pour boiling water. Bring water to a full boil and carefully pour over the ingredients until fully submerged.
- Seal and steep. Close the jar or thermos tightly and let steep for at least 30 minutes.
- Enjoy. Drink the warm pear-spiced tea and eat the softened pear slices afterward.
Notes
- For a stronger, more stewed-fruit effect, steep up to 1–2 hours.
- This preparation holds well in a thermos and can be sipped over several hours.
